Practice these 3 putting drills repeatedly to shave strokes of your score. Train your muscle and visual memory and you’ll have less 3 putts!
Putting Drill #1
1) Setup up to the ball. Push the ball towards the target. This will get you used to feeling your club going on the right path with your club face being square.
2) Take short back swing and hold it for a second. This will give you the feeling of stroking the ball to the hole.
3) Put it all together. Setup, take a short back swing (don’t hold it), and then follow through toward the hole.
Putting Drill #2
1) Lay a yard stick down (or put the ball on hardwood between the seams of the planks).
2) Put your ball about 3 feet from your target.
2) Do this repeatedly to get the feel of going straight back and coming back straight through with your putter face square.
Putting Drill #3
1) Lay a yard stick down (or put the ball on hardwood between the seams of the planks).
2) Put your ball about 10 feet from your target.
2) Do this repeatedly to get the feel of going straight back and coming back straight through with your putter face square. You want to get about 1/2 of your putts to hit the target.
